There were two parts to Loki - a crippling guilt and dislike, and a righteous confusion. He had apparently done something wrong, but could not figure out what. What was suggested clashed with everything he had been taught, and he was having difficulty placing the two realizations together. While he truly believed he had been in the right, no more worse than Thor at his best, he still felt nervous around his mother. His duplicity was not something he wanted to own up to.
"Perhaps not enough," he said, looking down at their hands. "Have you spoken with Thor, yet?"
